As a toddler mom, guiding children to embrace books, engage in child-led play, and cherish joyful moments is incredibly important to me. As a speech therapist with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Intervention and a Professional Certificate in the DIR®-FCD model (CL1), play-based learning, child-led interactions, developmental support, and teamwork have emerged as the guiding principles of my profession.
In my role as a permanent speech therapist for a year at The CCC and nearly nine years at The Talk Shop, I gained valuable insights into the significance of a language-rich environment, small class sizes, and a collaborative approach in fostering children’s speech and language development.
My experience working with many toddlers who struggle in mainstream preschool settings characterised by large class sizes and limited opportunities for free play deepened my commitment to advocating for this unique group, including those who are neurodiverse. This dedication inspired the launch of Early Expressions.
I am proud to follow in the footsteps of my mother, Sol, a dedicated preschool teacher who has nurtured young minds for over 34 years at her playschool, Sol's Playschool. From her, I’ve learned the profound value of patience and trust in early childhood development, as well as the importance of learning through play.
Sol now teaches a smaller group of toddlers, and we are thrilled to announce a collaboration between Sol's Playschool and Early Expressions. Sol will integrate elements of her program with the Early Expressions curriculum, allowing us to offer a blend of shared and unique activities designed to support play-based learning. Together, we aim to create an enriching environment that prioritises early intervention and joyful learning experiences for both neurodiverse and neurotypical toddlers.
I look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead as we nurture the potential of each child who joins us.
